UNIC Manama and the Ministry of Interior in Bahrain launched a Campaign to end Stigma associated with Mental Health Diseases. the campaign meant to ensure healthy lives and promote the well-being for all at all ages by eliminating any discrimination against those with psychological illnesses and mental disturbances. The campaign stressed the importance of ending Social Stigma associated with Mental Health and the consequences of Stigmatization for people with mental disorders.

UNIC Manama and partners organized Salalah Construction Conference to promote SDG 11

The United Nations Information Center in Manama organized, in cooperation of Trabat Conference Center and Non-Governmental Organizations, a two-day conference in Oman: “Salalah Construction Conference” which meant to promote the Global Goals, particularly SDG11, which purpose is to ensure access for all to adequate, safe, affordable housing, basic services and upgrade slums by 2030. Several specialized papers have been discussed on the most common mistakes in construction and how to avoid them towards sustainable buildings by increasing their life and avoiding collapse or damage.

UNIC Manama organizes a musical evening on Women’s International Day

The United Nations Information Center in Manama, with the cooperation of Mashq Gallery, organized a special musical evening to celebrate Women’s International Day. The Bahraini artist Mr. Ahmad Al-Ghanem played the flute with piano accompaniment performed by the Japanese artist Ms. Meena Oahashi and the majority of the musical pieces that were performed during the celebration were mainly composed by women.

UNIC Manama celebrates Women’s International Day

UNIC Manama, Bahrain Women Union and Awareness team organized a cultural program at the Argan village in Manama to mark International Women’s day. The program focused on celebrating the importance of women in a society and spreading awareness on the importance of equality. Director of UN Information Centre (UNIC Manama), Samir Al Darabi said that UNIC Manama will continue its capacity building support for women organizations in communications and media building on the training courses it organized in 2017. The rich cultural program included traditional dances, traditional musical activities, or for that matter providing a platform for aspiring women entrepreneurs. “We believe that the society can only move forward if we are promoting equality in all the sectors and we call everyone to put in the effort to promote equality,” stressed Al Darabi in an interview on Bahrain TV.

Samir Al Darabi noted that UNIC Manama’s support to this dynamic momentum and this Regional Forum is part of our commitment to promote 2030 Sustainable Development agenda. Although the world has made progress in gender equality under the Millennium Development Goals, women and girls continue to suffer discrimination and violence in every part of the world, added Al Darabi and that’s why the sustainable development goals adopted by all countries aim to ensure the full and effective participation of women and equal opportunities for women to lead on an equal footing with men at all levels of decision-making in political, economic and public life.
